Side Salad: OOO Edition
July 1, 2026
Likely, I am at Rehoboth Beach with my kids and very sunburnt. Or I am listening to my parents list their many ailments, as this is what they feel good conversation entails these days. I also may or may not be reading Robert Bolano’s The Savage Detectives, but it’s hard to say because it’s currently June 24th as I write this.
That’s because we’re all on vacation this week; you, however, are perhaps still chained to your laptop or your phone, and for this I am so, so very sorry. Regardless, I at least wanted to give a little shine to some of my personal favorite stories from the year so far, considering that we’re officially at the halfway point.
Anywho, turn on that OOO as soon as you’re done reading this:
Boy howdy, I just love a stupid story, and if there’s an arms race to make the smallest beer bottle ever, sign me up. Do you know what packaging in North Korea looks like? Now you do.
I long for a day when food’s only function is sustenance and not blank-maxxing. Everything is very stupid.
This Japanese snack brand now has black-and-white packaging for the worst possible reason. Anywho, now is the best time to revisit that slept-on sustainability plan, brands.
Here’s a 100% gorgeous Palestinian olive oil brand that doesn’t come in a squeeze bottle.
Calico Cut Pants now makes underwear, too.
If narcissism were rum, it would look an awful lot like this.
Lovely interview here with Daniel Irizarry,
There isn’t one single America 250 campaign that will bring this country together, no matter how many dead horses Coca-Cola insists on beating.
Best redesign of the year that’s actually from 2025: Moctezuma.
Worst redesign of the year: Not telling.
Tat-ta from vacationland.
