Good morning from Dieline’s editor-in-chief, Bill McCool. Here’s your daily side serving of design news, short musings, brand stuff, and forgotten ephemera.
Fred Hart is back with the best packaging from Newtopia Now 2026. Not too shabby!
The “first craft” NA brand using glass bottles for faux suds is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, and I suppose Lagunitas is no longer considered “cool” given its current ownership. Regardless, as a person who drinks a lot of this stuff, I tend to prefer the glass bottle because it adds to the ritual in which I am trying to fool myself into believing I’m drinking the real thing.
Taco Bell is teaming up with Olivia Rodrigo for a “Pretty Pink Baja Blast,“ which would have gotten you kicked off of Touch & Go if this were the 90s.
Speaking of, I wouldn’t want to have to inhale pink dust on the reg.
Sorry, y’all, but I won’t be drinking some combo of cold brew and lemonade, but I do enjoy this kooky-looking can.
This piece crossed my desk again, but it always brings up this question with me: what if Dennis Hopper had never made East Rider?
21-polda dot salute to Yayoi Kusama. Legend.
Good reads alert: would really love a copy of the upcoming Brian Johnson book, Designed to Be Red: Native & Indigenous Graphic Works. Essentially, 200 years of Native graphic design. Here’s a swell FastCo interview with Johnson.
Now I’m heading for bluer pastures.
-Bill
