Good morning from Dieline’s editor-in-chief, Bill McCool. Here’s your daily side serving of design news, short musings, brand stuff, and forgotten ephemera.
It takes a village (to redesign all of those lousy AI posters).
Ice Burger is one of the most unfortunate product names of the year.
Actually, go ahead and load up that canned RTD cocktail with some produce stickers!
This is kind of fascinating to me--when libraries ditch the Dewey Decimal System and make them more like your local bookshop, circulation goes up because people like to browse.
More injury attorneys and zombies doing commercials for milk, please.
It’s skincare, but packaged in a book, and it’s called Tome. Get it?
Shout out to Jason Liebig for introducing me to “Cheese-Flavored Pokes,” which are basically open-mouthed Chex. Nifty little bit of snack packaging innovation for 1968, however, in that it’s essentially a resealable chip bag.
Tecate got a redesign, and they brought back the ingot. All in all, good job by Bulletproof on my favorite 95-degree poolside beer, which I drink with ice and two juiced limes. That said, whenever a brand says it wants to get back to its “masculine roots,” my eyes roll out of my head and find the nearest fainting couch. Are you seriously trying to say that a beer brand like Tecate had somehow gone too feminine for beer drinkers and hell raisers across the entire gender spectrum?
On second thought, that gold bar sure did beef up the ol’ DUDE factor, right? Incidentally, I would never publish that in my case study because it genuinely sounds ludicrous.
Rabbit rabbit.
